My Story

I hate to write. I know that sounds incredulous but I will explain what I mean.

When I first started out, I feared telling too personal stories. Personal not because they were my life’s story, but because they were people’s realities and I felt unqualified to write about them. Though every article I have ever written is fictional, I feared exposing vulnerabilities like they were mine.

I told a friend about this and laughing, he said, “Rume, those are exactly the stories you should write.”

This is why when the recipient of an advance copy of a story I shared on my blog some time ago, sent a review of only three words and made no display of carefully crafted grammar, I knew that story like the others, had struck something deep. For propriety, I will keep private the details of our conversation afterwards.

You see, this is the reason I write: to reach out to people. To make them – you feel loved by the only true love there really is. I am praying my stories touch the farthest crevices of your heart and remind you you were (and still are) worth Jesus’ death and resurrection.

I’m pretty much a busy bee as I am a practicing physiotherapist (my day job). I write at night, during breaks, weekends or holidays.

In 2019, I released my debut book, a novelette, Yearning, and it earned a readership in over thirteen countries. I was the first-runner-up in the African Writer’s fifteen-word challenge in 2016, and since then I’ve had articles featured in Paragon and Ozcore. Also, I am a member of the American Christian Fiction Writers (ACFW) organization.

When I’m not doing hospital stuff or writing, I’m chatting with friends or enjoying a good book and a cup of hot chocolate in the United Kingdom where I live.

I hope that always, you will be blessed by the stories I write and Jesus be glorified.

Thank you for stopping by!
